INTERNATIONAL FAMILY FOUNDATION PRESIDENT COMMENDS AU CHAIRMAN ON INTERVENTION IN RUSSIA_UKRAINE CONFLICT.
President of the International Family Foundation, Professor Emeka Oguzie has commended the chairman of the African Union for responding to the Foundation's earlier call to intervene in the Russia Ukraine crisis.
"We had earlier notified the African Union of its strategic role to intervene in the crisis. Most of the other continents seem to have taken sides except Africa. Therefore, the AU posses an objective and trustworthy role in bringing a resolution." The IFF President said.
There have been many casualties and consequences of this war, which has inadvertently affected innocent persons and families.
The Foundation was pleased with the fact that the Senegalese President Macky Sall, current chairman of the African Union, will travel to Russia on Thursday (Today) for talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Sochi on Friday, his office said in a statement.
This visit in meeting with Russia's President Putin "is part of the efforts of the current chairmanship of the Union to contribute to the lull in the war in Ukraine, and the release of stocks of grain and fertilizer whose blockage particularly affects African countries," they said.
Mr. Sall will be accompanied by the chairman of the African Union Commission, Chadian Moussa Faki Mahamat.
"In the same spirit, the African Union will meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky to address a message to the organization by video conference, the date and modalities of which will be mutually agreed upon," they said.
