EBENEKEN OF YENAKA HONORS HON. ALFRED EGBA AND OTHERS.
His Royal Highness, Sir. Owen OVIE OMELEH KSP JP, yesterday celebrated their annual Yam Festival with his council of Chiefs, women, youths and other dignitaries.
During the well attended and elaborate event, which included traditional dances, wrestling, football, Tug of war and other games.
Most importantly,
Chieftaincy Titles were conferred on most deserving members of Yenaka and a few notable Atissa sons.
Hon. Barr. ALFRED EGBA, a former Lawmaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly and the currently the Federal Commissioner, Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission representing Bayelsa State, was also honoured with the highly revered ODEDE EKEN Title as WOLUOVIE EKEN.
Amongst other distinguished sons of Atissa were Chief Rex Mabinton, the son of the former Ebenibe (Clan Head) of Atissa Kingdom HRM. B.L.W. Mabinton.
The Special Guest of Honor, An immediate past lawmaker of the Federal House of Representatives. Prof Sinikiem Steve Azaki, OON; whose delight for the event was glaring, after joining the women in their traditional dances, he made huge donations to them and people of Yenaka Community, as they presented the new yams to him.
Speaking, the former Lawmaker admonished the Community to continue in upholding the aged tradition of their forefathers, peaceful nature and congratulated the Ebeneken for his, unparalleled leadership qualities and achievements in the community.
Also honoured is the State Youth Leader of APC. Chief Preye Agama, known as the light and benefactor of the community was also honoured with the ODEDE EKEN Title.
The Yenaka Council of Chiefs showered, encomiums and,, prayers on him for his continuous support of the community and attracting developmental projects to Yenaka, as he was also presented with the new yams.
The Chairman of the event and NLC Leader . Comrade Isiya Daniel, commended the women for upholding the Atissa Tradition and urged other communities to emulate the vision, Leadership and unity visible in Yenaka.
The Ebeneken, HRH Sir OVIE OMELEH KSP JP, in his closing remarks appreciated the people of Yenaka, distinguished Guests, especially His Highness Noble Akenge, a Title Citizen of Atissa Kingdom and the Publisher of Environmental Outreach Magazine; who at the behest of the Ebeneken, performed the Traditional Chieftaincy Conferment.
The Ebeneken and his Council later performed the Blessings of the Yams and people, as he declared the Yams ready for consumption.
The Royal father, while calling for attention and infrastructural developments from the BAYELSA state government, prayed for more fruitful yields for the women, peace and prosperity in the community.
