The New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, has announced the appointment of Hon Prince Anthony Kelechi Apugo as the acting Chairman of the party in Abia State, and Apostle Kanu Amogu J. as acting Secretary to drive the activities of the party in the state in line with the party’s principles of peace, equity and progress, with a promise to provide a robust opposition.
Addressing a press conference in Umuahia the Abia State capital, the new state chairman of the NNPP in Abia State, Prince Kelechi Apugo, said that his emergence as the Chairman of the party marks the beginning of a New Era for NNPP in Abia State, adding that he has accepted to perform this role that has placed the hopes and aspirations of the party and Abians on his shoulders.
Prince Kelechi Apugo stressed that as an opposition political party, that they are committed to providing robust and constructive opposition in Abia State, promising to holding the government accountable and to champion the interests of Abia people.
He said “our focus is on holding the government accountable, advocating for good governance and championing the interests of our people, while working extremely hard to win in future elections. Abians can expect an unwavering commitment from NNPP to safeguard their rights and interests”, Apugo notes.
The ag Abia State Chairman of the NNPP also called on their members who might have left the party due to one reason or the other to return and help reposition the party with the new leadership. According to him “To our members who may have left NNPP, we extend a heartfelt invitation to return home. Together, under the visionary leadership of our founder Dr Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, our dedicated Board of Trustees led by Dr. TKO Aluko, and our National Working Committee led by Dr Agbo Major, we are poised to revitalize Democratic Liberalism and make NNPP the preferred destination for every Abian who seeks equity, freedom, and social justice”, Kelechi Apugo posits.
Hon Apugo also felicitated with the leader of the party in Abia state and NNPP governorship candidate in the 2023 General Election, Dr Ukpai Iro Ukpai together with all the party’s candidates in Abia State, while calling on them to close ranks as the party prepares to provide ethical leadership for Abians.
