THE COALITION OF EPIE ATISSA LEADERS (CEAL) CONDEMNS OPOLO-OKUTUKUTU (YENAGOA) CRISIS; SUES FOR PEACE.

The leadership of the Coalition of Epie Atissa leaders unequivocally condemns the current and unnecessary crisis between Opolo and Okutukutu communities in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.

This condemnation came in the wake of violent attacks and killings that followed, triggered by youth clashes from both communities.

"These people are known to have deep historical ties and centuries of intermarriages, which, expectedly should have brought them closer together in harmony," the President of the group HRH.SIR Ovie Omeleh. KSP.JP said.

Unfortunately, common disputes, rivalry, and land grabing are alleged to have instigated conflicts and violence.

The group, therefore, offers itself and calls on all peace loving Bayelsans to meet with the leadership of both communities to immediately fashion out a permanent solution to this lingering problem.

Political and other leaders are also requested to lend their voices in calling for peace and immediate cessation to violence.

The group commends the swift actions of both the government and security agencies to bring normalcy to the situation temporarily.
