*COURT RESTRAINS APC FROM HOLDING CONGRESSES IN RIVERS STATE*

A State High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has issued a restraining order, halting the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from proceeding with ward and local government congresses. The order was granted in response to a motion ex parte filed by Peter Ohochukwu and Hajia Ndidi-Chukwuma.

Justice Godwin Ollor, presiding over the case, barred the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje; Secretary, Surajudeen Ajibola-Basiru; and the party itself from conducting the scheduled congresses on October 11th, 16th, and 26th, 2024. The court's decision also prohibits the defendants from supervising, holding, or monitoring elections related to the formation of the Rivers State executive committee.

Furthermore, the national leadership of the APC is restrained from suspending the current state executive led by Emeka Beke. The case has been adjourned to September 9th for the hearing of the motion on notice.

This development comes after the sacked chairman, Tony Okocha, stated that the party would not participate in the forthcoming council elections.
