The Media Office of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, has issued a statement correcting Governor Alex Otti's claims during the flag-off of the Arochukwu-Ohafia Highway reconstruction on August 28, 2024.
According to the statement, Governor Otti's speech contained "deeply concerning" inaccuracies regarding the road's history. The Media Office clarified that the road was constructed during the Petroleum Trust Fund era under Dr. Ikokwu and his Personal Assistant, Mr. Ocha Achinuvu, not during Dr. Michael Okpara's administration as claimed by the Governor.
The statement also highlighted Senator Kalu's contributions to the road project, including resurfacing the road from Umuahia to Arochukwu during his tenure as Abia State Governor and his role in securing funds for the project as Chief Whip of the 9th Senate.
The Media Office urged Governor Otti's team to correct their records to ensure accurate reconciliation of figures when applying for refunds from the Federal Government and Nigerian Senate.
