On Monday October 28th 2024, The State Coordinator of the PSN-YPG, Pharm. Azigere Tamarauebi as well as other very important stakeholders of PSN-YPG Bayelsa paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Faith Izibenua Zibs-Godwin.

During the meeting with the Young Pharmacists Group (PSN-YPG) in Bayelsa State, the commissioner emphasized the importance of harnessing the state's abundant marine resources to solve health challenges in Nigeria.

Dr. Zibs-Godwin challenged young pharmacists and scientists to explore the potential of marine bioresources for developing new pharmaceuticals. She stressed that this aligns with the state government's "ASSURED Agenda," which prioritizes innovation and sustainability in the marine and blue economy sectors. 

In addition to promoting research, the commissioner encouraged young pharmacists to participate in fish production. This was presented as a strategy to diversify the state's economy, enhance food security, and ensure the long-term health of the marine ecosystem.

The commissioner also emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration within the pharmacy profession, arguing that a united front is essential for achieving collective goals and advancing the interests of pharmacists.

The State Coordinator of the PSN-YPG, Pharm. Azigere Tamarauebi, thanked the commissioner for the meeting and congratulated her on her appointment. He also highlighted the critical roles pharmacists can play in the blue economy, particularly in areas related to health and sustainable practices.
