My life in danger, Abia PDP counsellorship candidate cries out

Hon. Igwe Akuma Akwu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counsellorship candidate for Okamu Ward, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, alleges threats to his life following the November 2 local government election. Akwu claims he won the election by a landslide but had his mandate stolen.

Akwu accuses Abia Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu of invading his house with security personnel on election day, beating his cousins and polling agents. He challenges the Deputy Governor to explain his role in the incident and calls on security agencies to investigate.

Emetu denies involvement, stating Akwu seeks cheap popularity. Through his Chief Press Secretary, Chukwudi Eke Mba, Emetu dismisses the allegations as false, saying Akwu is too insignificant to warrant his attention.

The Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) denies knowledge of Akwu's claims, challenging him to produce evidence. ABSIEC Commissioner Dr Kelechi Okere emphasizes the importance of proof, saying, "This is election, not selection."

Four persons were arrested at Akwu's house and brought to Ohafia Police Station, with the Deputy Governor allegedly claiming they defamed his character on social media. The IPO states the case will proceed to court if necessary.

Akwu urges his followers to remain calm, appealing to security agencies to investigate thoroughly. He expresses concern for his safety, stating, "My life is in danger, and my constitutional right to freedom is jeopardized."
